Jefferson County, AL consults CEAssociates for EPA Water Project

April 15, 2006 - CEAssociates, Inc. (CEA) will serve as the prime consultant to Jefferson County, AL Office of Community Development for the EPA Drinking Water Project. This project proposes to solve water quality and quantity problems for residents in ten geographic areas within Jefferson County that lack public water infrastructure. Currently residents in these areas use ground water obtained through on-site individual wells as their primary domestic water source. Therefore, the water supply may not be sustainable and lack the standards of public water quality.

The project consists of installing water mains in the ten geographic locations. These areas span four water jurisdictions: Birmingham Water Works Board, Bessemer Utilities, Warrior River Water Authority, and Graysville Water Authority.

CEA is responsible for surveying, design, construction documents, bid analysis, and contract administration. Environmental information documents have already been completed and submitted to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region 4 for approval. The construction cost of the project is estimated to be $1.7 million.
